Responsibilities

At Fast Pace Health, Dermatology Clinical Medical Assistants provide clinical and administrative support essential for effective patient care under the direct supervision of a Dermatology Provider. They provide outstanding patient service, maintaining a compassionate and welcoming atmosphere, and respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. The Dermatology Medical Assistant will provide effective customer service for all internal and external customers by using excellent, in-depth knowledge as well as communicating effectively with team members.   

What You Will Do: 

  • Triage patients by checking and recording vitals, collect and record pertinent clinical history and all other information deemed necessary for proper charting in the EMS.
  • Assists Dermatology Provider in patient assessments and examinations.
  • Prepare examination rooms and sterilize equipment with the use of an autoclave.
  • Educate patients on proper skin care, medication application, and post-procedure care.
  • Assist with dermatological procedures, including biopsies, excisions, and cryotherapy.
  • Perform lab testing and phlebotomy. Handle and label specimens for laboratory and pathology testing.
  • Perform wound care and suture removal as needed.
  • Administer phototherapy treatments and/or assist with phototherapy setup.
  • Educate patients properly in a method they understand regarding treatment and at-home care, including prescribing effective skincare regimens.
  • Ensure patient comfort and confidentiality during procedures.

Administrative Duties:

  • Verify insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, and schedule referrals.
  • Maintain and update patient records.
  • Prepare and organize patient charts for upcoming appointments.
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage the appointment calendar.
  • May perform as a Scribe as needed.
  • Assist providers with conducting proper patient follow-ups, including but not limited to, conducting follow-up calls within 1-2 days of treatment, respond to messages within the same day of receipt.
  • Answer phone calls, address patient inquiries, and triage urgent messages to dermatology provider.
  • Manage inventory, order medical supplies and medications as needed.
  • Cross-promote all areas of Practice, including services for facial rejuvenation, injectables, peels, microdermabrasion, and facials, in addition to other services that may be added to the service menu.
  • Maintain dermatology knowledge to promote and sell services. 

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Assists with urgent care activities as dermatology schedule allows.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Experience Requirements and Preferences:

  • 1+ year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinic setting, preferably in a Dermatology office

Education Requirements:

High School Diploma or Its Equivalent
