Responsibilities

The Accounting Manager will create and maintain financial records and assist in the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, compiling financial statements, reviewing data and ensuring financial compliance, general ledger accountability, and financial reporting, as well as other special projects as assigned. The Accounting Manager works independently and acts as a leader by training and guiding accountants.  The Accounting Manager will also review the work of the staff reporting to him/her.   • Prepare and/or review monthly financial statements, reports and records by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information.
  • Assist in reviewing complex journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations for monthly close and year-end close, as assigned, to meet assigned closing deadlines.
  • Ensures that all month-end close deadlines are met, and all entries are prepared and booked accurately and timely.
  • Ensure the fixed assets policies and procedures are being followed. Ensuring depreciation expense is calculated and booked accurately and reviewing to the general ledger.
  • Ensure the inventory process is being followed and inventory count adjustments are reasonable, and inventory reconciliations are completed accurately. Ensuring we follow FIFO procedures.
  • Performs review of balance sheet reconciliations, as assigned.
  • Trains and provides guidance to all levels of accountants. Manage team’s workload to ensure all deadlines will be met.
  • Analyze financial results, on a consolidated basis or business segment, and prepare variance analysis reports to explain budget to actuals and variance to trend.
  • Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and alert the Assistant Controller if necessary.
  • Maintains accurate accounting of business transactions of the organization, by applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Assist with management of audit by preparing, compiling, and reviewing documentation for the auditors and corresponding with the auditors to provide requested information.
  • Assist with tax preparation and tax audits, as assigned.
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures. Manage and maintain software’s within the department.
  • Assist with due diligence accounting.
  • Works with Assistant Controller to develop accounting policies, procedures and department goals.
  • Document processes and procedures throughout the department.
  • Builds cross-functional relationships with senior managers and corporate department, regional, and clinical leaders to improve the accuracy of financials.
  • Proactively drives continuous improvement in the financial statement preparation.
  • Demonstrates an appropriate understanding and working knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls.
  • Leads the team to implement and adhere to policies, procedures, and systems to ensure timely processing of financial statements.
  • Interviews candidates for positions that report to the Accounting Manager as necessary.
  • Responsible for overseeing and training for positions that report to the Manager, supporting and coaching for those that report within the respective teams.
  • Responsible for overseeing performance and any related counseling of positions that report to the Manager, up to and including recommendation for termination of employment.
  • Recognizes strong individual and team performance in support of our values and company goals.
  • Assists with special projects, as assigned.
  • Responsible for overseeing annual review process for positions that report to the Manager.
  • Analyze labor and work volume to determine staff level and coordinates with Assistant Controller to meet work volume demands.
  • Creates, prepare, present, and submit reports to management daily, weekly, monthly and upon request.
  • Occasional travel to corporate office in Franklin, TN.
  • Be able to work effectively and efficiently in a remote environment.
  • The ability to maintain friendly, cordial relations with all clients and employees; maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that results in a positive work relationship with customers, co-workers, and managers.
  • The ability to perform the physical, use of senses, cognitive, and environmental functions of the position, as specified on the physical demands.

Experience Requirements and Preferences:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or another related field
  • CPA preferred

 

                AND

 

                Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years related experience
  • Publicly traded healthcare preferred
  • Public Accounting experience preferred
  • 3 years of Managerial experience preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills, including vlookups and pivot tables required
  • Sage Intacct and Adaptive Insights experience is a plus
