Overview

The Director of Construction & Development position will be a Full-Time position. The employee is expected to perform the responsibilities outlined for this position, which can vary based on clinic needs. The Director of Construction & Development is responsible for understanding the construction and design process and working directly with development partners and their contractor teams to execute clinical construction builds against deadlines, including significant traveling to sites for inspections.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions: 

  • Oversee construction projects from beginning to end, including traveling to all build sites at appropriate checkpoints.
  • Collaborate with EVP of Real Estate and Director of Real Estate regarding market expansion and growth targets, gathering intelligence on market and site viability via travel to proposed markets and completing targeted assessments. 
  • Liaise with architectural partners to coordinate concerning clinic design and enhancement and oversee any design changes to ensure standardization protocols.
  • Work with the EVP of Real Estate to review budgets and estimated construction costs and schedule.
  • Liaise directly with development partners/Landlords and their extended contractor/construction teams to determine the necessary equipment, materials, and manpower needed, and execute against determined Delivery Date.
  • Coordinate with all internal teams and departments to ensure supplies and equipment are ordered and delivered according to schedule. 
  • Participate in weekly meeting with extended internal team to provide updates on construction progress for each location. 
  • Manage and review construction progress reports from all development partners regarding job status and ensure execution against timelines.
  • Review proposed Site Plans (layouts) and other construction documents for accuracy and ensure routine collection of ancillary documentation for every site (Certificate of Occupancy, permits, architectural plans, civil plans, emergency evacuation plans, etc.).
  • Work with internal and external parties to resolve any construction challenges that may arise.
  • Liaise with architectural vendor(s) to ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors, engineers, architects, and key team members of the project team.
  • Participate in weekly cadence meetings with development partners/contractors to discuss progress to targets and ensure execution against planned pipeline timelines and targets. 
  • Allocate and manage resources to ensure that they are available when they are needed throughout the construction projects.
  • Keep all stakeholders aware of the progress on projects and prepare progress reports regularly.
  • Handle any environmental or local community issues that may come up during a project.
  • Conduct routine site checks to monitor progress and quality standards.
  • Responsible for learning the aspects of compliance in the company by completing all mandatory compliance training.

Non-Essential Functions:

Experience Requirements and Preferences:

Basic Requirements:

  • Education: An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related degree 

AND 

  • Experience: At least 5 years of Real Estate or Construction experience 

 

Working Conditions: 

  • Travel Required: Significant Travel Required 
  • Hours Required: As needed to complete the job responsibilities. 

Other Considerations and Additional Information: 

  • Previous Project Management experience preferred.
  • Willingness to travel required.
